New HiE-Coat 840-C High Temp, Black-body Coating Offered

HiE-Coat™ 840-C, a new high temperature, blackbody coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used by manufacturers of ceramic fiberboard infrared heaters to improve thermal efficiency to reduce energy costs in applications to 2500 °F.

New HiE-Coat 840-C High Temp, Black-body Coating Offered

HiE-Coat™ 840-C, a jet-black, water-based, ceramic coating now produced by Aremco Products, Inc., demonstrates an emissivity greater than 0.90 at temperatures to 2500 °F. The emissivity of a material can range from 0.00 to 1.00; a high emissivity material will absorb (rather than reflect or transmit) and very effectively re-radiate infrared energy. High temperature combustion chambers, ovens and furnaces constructed using high emissivity coatings are more energy efficient and distribute heat more uniformly.

HiE-Coat™ 840-C is applied easily to ceramic and refractory surfaces using a sponge brush, roller or conventional spray equipment. The coverage rate is approximately 500 ft2/gallon based a two mil dry film thickness. Curing is accomplished in operation or by heating for 1-2 hours at 200 °F.

HiE-Coat™ 840-C is a user- and environmentally-friendly product. It is odorless, water-soluble, and contains no volatile organic compounds. It will not outgas upon curing or during operation, a particularly important feature for high temperature systems used in the automotive, electronics and aerospace industries.
